A LONG PROMPT IS NOT THE SAME AS AN AGENT

1 min read

A common mistake is writing a prompt of several thousand words and calling it an Agent.

A long prompt can contain a lot of instructions.

But a good Agent needs structure, not just a lot of words.

It is better to separate:

Instruction → how to work.

Knowledge → what needs to be known.

Data → the data of the current task.

Tools → the capabilities to use.

Workflow → the order of execution.

Stuffing everything into one prompt usually makes the system:

  • hard to manage;
  • hard to update;
  • prone to conflicts;
  • hard to tell where an error comes from.
