AI CHATBOTS AND AI AGENTS DIFFER IN HOW THEY OPERATE
1 min read
Both AI Chatbots and AI Agents use AI models.
The difference is not that one is “smarter”, but in how the model is organized to do the work.
AI Chatbot
A Chatbot responds to requests and to the Context of the current conversation.
The user usually decides:
- what to ask;
- which data to provide;
- what kind of result to request;
- whether to switch models or add Context.
AI Agent
An Agent is set up in advance to carry out a group of tasks more consistently.
An Agent can be configured with:
System Prompt · Context · Tool
to define:
- the task;
- the principles;
- the scope;
- which sources of information to use;
- the stopping conditions;
- how to produce the result.
A Chatbot starts from the current question.
An Agent starts from a way of working that was designed in advance.
