WRITING KNOWLEDGE THE AI CAN EASILY USE
1 min read
Write the context clearly
Avoid:
Handle it like the case above.
As is customary.
If needed, apply the old way.
The AI may not know what those phrases refer to.
Write it out in full:
If the most recent quarterly financial statements are missing, do not use old-quarter figures to draw conclusions about the current status.
Each important passage should be able to be understood relatively independently.
Write principles as Rules
If the content is a rule, there is no need to write it as a long paragraph.
For example:
RULE — MISSING DATA
- Do not guess.
- Identify the missing data.
- Only conclude within the scope of the available data.
A clear structure is usually easier to use than long prose.
Use Examples
Some concepts are understood better by the AI when there are examples.
GOOD:
The current data is not sufficient to confirm the thesis.
BAD:
The company will certainly keep growing.
Or:
GOOD SOURCE:
Audited financial statements.
WEAK SOURCE:
A post with no cited source.
Examples help the AI understand how to apply Knowledge in practice.
Don't turn the KB into a second System Prompt
The KB should not be full of sentences like:
- You must...
- Always...
- Absolutely never...
- It is mandatory...
Rules that control behavior belong in the System Prompt.
The KB should focus on:
- knowledge;
- methods;
- definitions;
- reference;
- examples.
